What to Expect From Your Fraxel Treatment

Considering the Fraxel treatment but not sure how it actually works? Take it from someone who's been through the process. Here's what you can actually expect.

Treatment #1
A layer of gooey cream and about 10 minutes of six laser passes, alternating horizontally and vertically on the face, is pretty much all it takes to complete the 1st Fraxel procedure. A slight throbbing and redness is a completely normal side effect, followed by a brown-dotted pattern of dry skin over the next few days. This will naturally wear off and before you know it, you'll be ready for your next procedure.

Treatments 2 & 3
Depending on the ease of your recovery, the power of your treatment may be increased for following treatments. This can result in longer lasting redness and throbbing, though it will also create more astounding results in the long run. Ice packs and a cold-air blower can minimize any discomfort you are feeling.

About a month after your last treatment
Depending on the specific areas of your face you were looking to treat, fine lines should be smoother, dark spots should fade, and pores should seem much smaller by the 30-day mark. The condition of your skin will also continue to improve. If you wish to keep up with this new appearance, Fraxel procedures must be performed again over time.
